Embodying Your Strength.

There is something sacred about unpluckable women. (And the people who love them).

Women who give their all.
Grandmothers who love immensely.
Daughters who create at the same time they are experiencing grief.
Sisters who nurture others while going through a healing process.
Aunties who stand confidently in the midst of what could destroy them. Those who speak life, hug to heal, and pour wisdom into empty vessels.
Women like my mom, Marilyn Joy Pitts Horton, who is no longer with us.
Today, I hold space for those who find Mother's Day more bitter than sweet.
For those missing mothers and children, those who yearn for better relationships with their families, or those who feel a longing that earth cannot fulfill. Your feelings are valid, and you are not alone.
If you lead women's groups, book clubs, or Bible studies, I'd like to suggest a few recent books that highlight the strength, power, and courage of women:
Timeless: 22 Lessons of Faith, Hope, and Love - Deadra Woods Stokes
She Kept Living - Dr. Lynel Beaty
Girl, He Sees You - Tojuan Minus
Whispers of Strength - Michelle Solomon
Motivated By The Word - Kenya Z. Edwards
Ain't No Shame - Treisha Parker Combo
Not Broken Just Refined - Erica Estella
Running Between Dandelions - Penda L. James
I also wanted to share that I have co-written a short film. We are looking for co-producers to help us bring it to life. You can learn more about YELLOW here: www.crowdfundr.com/yellowfilm

Thank you for continuing to create and heal. You confirm that storytelling still changes lives.
Embody Your Strength,
Penda
