Hey Friends,
It's been a while since I've blogged on my website, and I've missed you and our conversations. If you're new here, welcome to the family! I'm Penda, a Scribe Coach, writer, mom, wife, and hopeless romantic.
I also blog over on a social media platform called Substack. It's a place where writers and readers connect.
WHERE HAVE I BEEN?
Between January and May of 2025, I was in the bubble doing deep work. Deep work is intentional, focused, and silent. For months, I was chopping down goals on my goal list like they were tall oak trees.
Not only was I working on my new novel, I took a leadership class, participated in a writer's apprenticeship, ran my business, and watched my only child walk through her last year of high school with grace and courage. As she worked on her goals, I worked on mine, too. By the time she crossed the stage and went to college (the next day), I was in a whirlwind of emotions, both good and bad.
This version of Penda is navigating life on a whole new level. For the first time in a long time, I have made myself a priority, and it feels good. Focusing on myself is new, and to be honest, it was scary at first. I didn't know who I was going to be when I no longer had the responsibility of car pooling, chauffeuring, or checking homework. But I have given myself grace to grow from my mistakes.
EXCITING NEWS
You are my core supporters, and I want to make sure you know what's happening these days. I finished my novel in May! Writing a novel is something I have always wanted to do, and I am proud of my 70,000+ word baby. Pre-orders for the paperback will begin in 10 days. The Ebook will also be available for purchase, and preorder instructions for that will be announced soon.
LOGLINE: A woman must understand her mother's story in order to overcome her fear of being an unfit mother.
This book was inspired by a short film I wrote called "Yellow." I wanted to create a safe space for women to have conversations about motherhood, sisterhood, and healing. Topics like forgiveness, protecting your heart, faith, grief, and loss are the themes that are prevalent in the book. But love always prevails.
If you know me, you know that I have dealt with the grief of losing both of my parents, but that I always seek to honor them in everything I do. This book is no different. I felt every word as they poured out of me onto the paper. Because you have been faithful to me, I want to give you a preview of what is to come.

Oh, and by the way, I want to share that Antony Pops Mitchell, one of the InSCRIBEd Inspiration authors, has made his book available on Audible. It is full of wonderful surprises. Click below to order it.
MUSIC TO INSPIRE
When I write, I create a playlist for every project. I thought you might like a link to the playlist I wrote to for this novel. I think my characters would have these songs on their playlist. There are a couple other lists but this is Nitty's. Click the image for the full playlist and if you want to know which songs go with which character, I can send you the playlists for them.

Remember Your Strength,
Penda
